How to choose your magnetic bracelet or magnetic necklace?

Here’s a quick guide of what to look out for when buying magnetic products.

1. A high strength magnet – the medical magnet in the magnetic product needs to measure at least 800 gauss
minimum, any less is useless and even this strength is really only going to help with very mild pain. You really need to be looking in the region of about 2,000 to 3,000 gauss per magnet to be able to reduce higher amounts of pain.

2. The measurement needs to be a surface gauss rating not a core rating -
A lot of companies display a core gauss measurement instead of the surface gauss measurement as this is always a much higher number. The core gauss is the manufactured gauss this is not what the magnetic strength will be when the magnet is made and is on your body.

The surface gauss strength is the strength of the magnet at the point where it will come into contact with your body. This is important to know as you may have a magnet which measures 5,800 gauss and think it is very strong but it is most likley a core or manufacturer’s gauss measurement and the surface gauss strength may only be 1,000 gauss.

3. Trained and qualified therapists- do not accept advice from someone who just sells magnetic jewellery. Make sure they know what they are talking about or you may end up buying something that will not help you in any way.

4. The products you use need to be on or as close to the point of pain as possible-
Don’t believe people who say a magnetic bracelet will help your pain in every area of your body. This is not true. The magnets need to be in the close proximity to the pain so if you have neck pain, you need a magnetic necklace, for back pain a magnetic back belt, for knee pain, magnetic knee straps and so on.
